Links Page

These links contain a lot of information about the industry as well as some artists that I admire.

Industry News and Information

Animation World Network www.awn.com
This site has lots of useful information about the industry, including job openings and interviews with professionals. It can be a little daunting, information-wise, but has a lot of great content.
Animation Meat www.animationmeat.com
Lots of notes and lecture excerpts from some of the best sources in the business. Also has a lot of links to places where you can buy supplies and books.
Animation Nation www.animationnation.com
A collection of forums and discussion groups on all the latest in the industry. Also a great place to check out other peoples' projects and get feedback on your own.
Animation Blast www.animationblast.com
Founded by Amid Amidi, a producer for "Ren & Stimpy." The website is really more of an ad for the hard-copy magazine, but there is some fun stuff on there and you can find out how to order the real deal, if you're so inclined.
Toonopedia www.toonopedia.com
A Donald D. Markstein creation, it has a lot of great information on the history of the industry.
The Big Cartoon Database www.bcdb.com
If it has to do with cartoons, chances are it's in here... somewhere.
Toon Tracker

www.toontracker.com

If you like cartoons, you'll probably get a kick out of this site.

Studios

Trion www.trionworld.com
This is the studio where I work.
Wildbrain www.wildbrain.com
This is the studio where I used to work.
Pixar Animation Studios www.pixar.com
I think that Pixar is making the best animated films out there, with terrific animation and wonderful visuals but, more importantly, great stories.
Walt Disney Pictures disney.go.com/disneypictures
It's surprising what isn't on Disney's official website. Even so, this page does have links to trailers and information about upcoming releases, including all of the Pixar stuff.
PDI/Dreamworks www.pdi.com
I think that PDI has been a close second to Pixar since their entry into the realm of feature film. And I mean that as a compliment.
Blue Sky Studios www.blueskystudios.com
Another big player in the CG feature category, Blue Sky won the Academy Award for Chris Wedge's short, "Bunny." Their feature, "Ice Age," proved that you can make a solid animated film on a tight budget.
Dreamworks/Glendale www.dreamworks.com
PDI's parent company also has some of its own projects. They're usually not as good, but worth checking out.
Aardman Animations www.aardman.com
Teaming up with Dreamworks, Aardman has reached a wider audience with "Chicken Run," "Curse of the Wererabbit," and "Flushed Away." But it's the older stuff that really rocks. Anyone who hasn't seen "The Wrong Trousers," "A Close Shave," or "Creature Comforts," should check them out.
Warner Brothers Animation looneytunes.warnerbros.com
Like most other official studio websites, there is not really a lot of info here.
Passion Pictures www.passion-pictures.com
Based out of England, these guys have recieved a lot of recognition for their "Gorillaz" videos. Great, funky animation and some slick CG integration.

People

Frank and Ollie www.frankandollie.com
Legends. 'Nuff said. This is a really cuddly site from the masters themselves. We'll miss you, Frank.
Chuck Jones www.chuckjones.com
Although mostly a place to buy memorebilia, this is the official website dedicated to one of my favorites.
More Chuck Jones... www.coldbacon.com
Slightly better than the "official" page in terms of content
Tex Avery www.texavery.com
Like his contemporary and co-worker, Chuck Jones, there is not a lot on the web about this animation master. But this is something, at least.
Carlos Baena www.carlosbaena.com
Never met the guy, but he used to work at Wildbrain and everyone there says he's super cool. As you will see, he's also a great animator.
Cameron Miyasaki www.cameronmiyasaki.com
Another Pixar animator, this guy went to my school. Very talented, with a great website. I stole some links from him. I hope he doesn't mind.
Ron Zorman www.ronzorman.com
Yet another Pixar guy, he's got some good stuff on his site. The ducks are funny.
Victor Navone

www.hash.com/users/navone

And yes, this guy also works at Pixar (are you sensing a trend?). I saw his "Alien Song" piece years ago on the web. You might have, too.
Shane Glines www.shaneglines.net
Shane has worked with John Kricfalusi on "Ren and Stimpy" as well as with Bruce Timm on "Batman," "Batman Beyond" and the like. His girlie drawings are great.
Keith Lango www.keithlango.com
Great animation. I first heard about him on the 10 Second Club webpage (see below). He used to work for Big Idea in Chicago.
Mark Behm www.markbehm.com
Another artist from Big Idea, he's got some cool animations on his site. Good acting and timing with a pretty unique style. My favorite things on there are the concept paintings, though.
Moonsung Lee www.moonsunglee.com
Currently at Blue Sky, Moonsung used to go to my school and I've met him a few times, though I doubt he remembers me. His short, "Bert," is one of my favorites.
Jeep Naarkom www.maimalai.com
Jeep was a classmate of mine at the Academy and is a very talented animator. His renders are a lot prettier than mine, too. He was at ILM for a while but now he could be anywhere... I should get back in touch with that guy....
Anup Lobo www.killeroctopus.com
Anup went to my school and we also worked together at Wildbrain for a bit. He's got some cool, eclectic stuff on his site.
Wes Mandell www.animationaddiction.com
Another classmate of mine who was working at ILM. In addition to being a talented animator, he's got a strong technical side, too.
Dori Arazi www.doriarazi.com
Yet another classmate, this guy is a rigging whiz. Some people are detail oriented, but Dori takes it to another level. He also manages to be a really good animator, which boggles the mind. Well, at least it boggles my mind.
